About Andy

My name is Andy Fisher and I am running for a 4-year spot on the Van Buren Local Schools Board of Education. I am a husband to Felicia, father to Landon and Kayla, engineer for Hancock-Wood Electric Cooperative, volunteer fireman with Washington Township Fire Department, and have been a coach for various Van Buren community sports, including basketball, baseball, midget football, and soccer. I am running for the Van Buren School Board to serve the community. I currently see the need for individuals like myself to be actively involved in areas where they can make a difference in their community.
As an engineer, I believe one of my strengths as a board member will be facility related. I am able to comprehend a variety of permanent improvement and preventative maintenance needs at the district. Also, working for Hancock-Wood Electric for the last 20+ years has allowed me to better understand the roles and responsibilities of an elected board member. Hancock-Wood Electric members elect a board of trustees as representatives for their district to set policies, financial and business direction.
There is no single issue that motivates me to serve as I believe no individual should serve for one reason only. I believe doing so leads to “tunnel vision” , which may allow for a board member to miss other, more important opportunities and issues at hand.
A vote for me is a vote for a commitment to continued improvement in the Van Buren Local School District!
